With electric assist, bar mitts and studded snow tires, this has been my most enjoyable winter for bike commuting so far. With a recent storm providing ice, sleet and snow, I got to test the snow tires in all kinds of conditions, and they work very, very well. Combined with common sense and some caution, there’s been no significant cases of lose of traction, despite my making a point finding sections of road in all states of ice, snow and slush.
Here I’m hauling a ~ 50 lb old town, a couple of printers, and my shoulder bag which contains a laptop in it.
Today it was in the upper 20s here and I rode bare-handed with the bar mitts, and that was warm enough as well as being convenient.
